Cultivating a Nimble Attention

For What It's Worth

The holiday season has come and gone, and perhaps the New Year’s resolutions, too. I hope you will have used this time to savor what you are and already have before trying to shake things up to create room for more.

Food for Thought

For What It's Worth

If history chronicles the evolution of humanity's consciousness through the collective contributions of every soul . . .

How will you help write the history of our future?

Heaven Can't Wait

For What It's Worth

I just saw Barbara Walters' special on Heaven. Sounds like a great place, as most described it.

Frankly, though, that inner child in me says it wants it now. That there's no reason to wait.

So, tell me, why do we have to wait until we die to have a chance to experience heaven? Why can't the peace and happiness it promises be in our lives here and now?

What are you getting?

For What It's Worth

Your life has meaning. And the experiences you're getting are the reason you're here. The trick is to make the most of them, and get more of the ones you want.

Do You See the Danger?

For What It's Worth

Just like our world, we are walking along a precipice, unaware of the danger that lurks beyond our sight. Some will find their way, and in the process know themselves and God. Others will succumb to the forces that drag us down into the quagmire of fear, desire, and conflicts of will.

It's not enough to continue chasing a piece of the pie and hope that things work out, trusting your reward will come after the breath of life is gone. No one, not even Jesus Christ himself, can relieve you of responsibility for your own salvation, or your role in the salvation of mankind.

Seize the moment, and awaken to the evolutionary journey all souls make. Or remain asleep, locked in a cycle of discontent, disconnected from all that life promises.

Going in Circles

For What It's Worth

Sometimes it feels like we're going in circles. Doing the same things over and over again. Until we either get it right, or gather the experiences they were intended to bring.

Where is your life taking you?

What are your patterns?

For What It's Worth

We all create patterns with which we meet life. Not only the things we do, but our personality responses as well. How we respond to demands or assertions of another's will. Attitudes. Even our individual characteristics.

What are yours?

Inevitability

For What It's Worth

I have lived a life of conflict, and have seen it from all sides. Aggressor. Defender. Intermediary. And as much as I have wanted to stop it, I cannot. I am like the moth to a flame, unable to stay away no matter what I know it will do to me.

I hate to say it, but it appears (for now at least) conflict is inevitable. But how we move through it and manage it isn't. That is the test before us. And our world.

Are we up to the challenge to find another way?
