Need v. Urge

For What It's Worth

Is there a duality of activity within -- a want or even need to act, vs. the urge to act? The feeling of want or need comes from the outer self, or as some call it, the idealized self. Usually so do our desires. The urge to act comes from an inner place where there is no must, no need, no urgency. Only creation.

Since the inner urges don't fill our conscious hours, the question is whether to ignore or release feelings of want or need, or to act upon them, while waiting for the inner urge. And how to choose when they all conflict.

Perhaps this is an appropriate subject for a zen koan. Meditate upon it.
