Distracted by Life
I am fascinated by this collection of experiences we call life. It has such an amazing way to keep us entertained. Or at least busy.
One of those ways is through all the myriad things it puts before us that beg for our attention. Things to keep us occupied. It's like we're little kids, and those activities are presented by a doting parent to keep us busy.
There's always something screaming to be given its due. And you know what? We give it! Willingly in most cases. So away we go, riding off into the wild blue yonder of wherever it is they take us. At least, before we're dropped like a hot potato so something else can strike our fancy.
Is it any wonder that we have so little time for reflection, for understanding, or for creating anything different?
If you're trying to create a different experience of life, maybe a good place to start might be to guard your attention more jealously. Don't be so quick to give all those distractions what they demand.
Reserve a little piece for what's going on inside. It will help you better understand and deal with all the other stuff.
