What Are Your Possibilities?

For What It's Worth

Here we go again. Another new year, another fresh start to redefine who we are and how we'll live our lives.

I used to make resolutions. And to be honest, I sat down and wrote up a few for this year. But even before the new year started, I threw them away. Because they weren't much in the way of resolutions anyway. Only things I wanted to come about this year, and maybe a couple of the action steps I thought might help me create them.

One thing did become clear from the process, though. There's an awful lot of new things I'd like to do in life. Not that what I'm doing now is so bad, because it's not. In fact, I've got a great life, and great people around me all the time. There's not much more that I need.

But there sure is a lot that I want to do.

It's like life is this Mount Everest of possibilities. And my job is to explore them, to test myself with the challenges they offer. And to experience the wonders that each of them offers.

Now, I don't know what they will bring. In fact, if I am able to create or do some of the things on my list, it might very well turn out that what they bring isn't what I envision at all. But that's okay, because it's the thrill of exploration that turns me on. And more importantly, what I learn about me along the way.

I guess that makes me a little different than most people. Because I see life as this fantastic system where I get to explore all the many treasures that life hides along the way. Most of them, though, aren't even in the places I go or things I see or do. They're hidden away in me, and in the people who share the journey with me or cross my path along the way.
