Sometimes It Doesn't Matter
So many people seem to think that all you have to do is change your thoughts and align your actions with them and everything will magically change in your life.
Maybe I'm just a naysayer. But I've found that sometimes you can do everything right, and things still turn out "wrong."
Captain Penny used to say, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. But you can't fool mom." So perhaps we should go talk to mom.
What Would Mom Say?
I think she'd sit us on her knee and hug us and wipe our tears, and then tell us that life doesn't always work out the way we want. Boy, some pep talk.
Maybe our thoughts aren't so pure, or our actions consistent with them. Maybe our intentions are confused. Maybe, just maybe, there are fears or desires or other inner conditions playing out beneath the surface. Maybe we're working off karmic burdens.
Or maybe it just might be in our life plan to experience what we're going through.
The trick for all of us is to do what we can, the best we can. Like we usually try to do, at least when things don't overwhelm us to a point we don't know which way is up.
That usually means to not get down on ourselves, or lose our vision of where we want to go. And to find whatever value there is in our struggles and suffering, so at least we can make the best of a bad situation.
