Good management requires 'integral vision' and the ability to build bridges rather than boundaries, author Mark Gerzon writes.

When Mark Gerzon is running a workshop on approaches to leadership, he sometimes brings a carpenter's toolbox into the seminar room. But instead of the usual array of equipment in any decent toolbox, he has only hammers of different sizes.

"As I begin pulling out one hammer, and then the next, and then another, the members of the audience begin to laugh nervously," Gerzon writes in his thoughtful new book, "Leading Through Conflict."
